AI-Empowered, Not AI-Run

To ensure we are not entrusting solely artificial intelligence (AI) with the safety of our users, we have created a system that utilizes specialized AI models to detect violative content and take action against it. The model, developed by OpenAI, swiftly and easily detects content that is violative and assigns it a score. For example, something like "shut up" would have a much lower score in the harassment category than someone saying a racial slur. In cases where the model is extremely confident in the content being violative, it will automatically block the content before it can be published. After a certain threshold of automatic blocks has been reached, the user's blocked messages may be logged and sent to human moderators. In cases where the model is less confident but has identified potentially violative material, the message is automatically escalated to human moderators to prevent false positives.

Child Safety Measures

As required by law, we report all instances of illegal and unsafe interactions with or in regard to minors to the NCMEC and request that our users flag any content that may be placing minors at risk using our on-platform reporting tools.

Our On-Platform Reporting Tools

We recognize that AI and human moderation are STILL not foolproof. This is why we request that any users who notice content that violates our policies report said content using our on-platform reporting tools so that human moderators can either be alerted to the content as a first-time report, or allow our human moderators to have a second look for something that we may have missed.
